Generally, since roll is required machining accuracy, so surface is processed by grinding. Normally, roll surface is grinded under the normal temperature of 20℃~30℃.However in case of manufacturing rubber, battery, and film, there are cases that roll is heated up-to temperature of 200℃. If the roll is given the temperature of 200℃, roll brings about deformation because of the effect of thermal expansion. Therefore, deflection accuracy and profile of rolls processed under the normal temperature vary and cause the quality deterioration.

After Betterment

When the rolls that have been processed under the normal temperature get heated, they cause deformation by the thermal expansion and their quality deteriorate. In this context, rolls are processed by heat-grinding method instead of normal temperature grinding. Hot grinding facility that Nomura Plating retains can be controlled maximum temperature up-to maximum 250℃, and so can meet with the hot-grinding in the identical temperature of the roll operation of the customer. The hot-grinding processing can produce stable profile and deflection accuracy of the roll during the actual operation.

Point (Summary)

Rolls are used under the high temperature circumstance for the manufacturing of rubber, battery, and film. Roll largely loose its function of deflection accuracy and profile by the cause of deformation of thermal expansion when heated with high temperature. Consequently, the product quality to be manufactured by the roll cannot be stable. If the roll is processed by the method of hot-grinding under the similar temperature in actual use, the accuracy of the function can be reserved and so can produce the product with stable quality.
