Before Betterment

In some cases, fin may needed in order to circulate heat medium through roll inside. In case of finning to inside of cylinder, the processing is made by lathing of cylinder. This processing produced more waste than fin, thus resulted in poor yielding. This processing which demands more works and more work frequency, brought about relatively costly production burden of roll.

After Betterment

Cost down could be achieved by means of employing of fin forming of welding of stainless and iron stay plate (flat bar) to outside of inner cylinder of roll around spirally. The processing cost of the work to weld stay plate to outside round is cheaper than the work of boring to produce cylinder. This method can materialize the cost down as a whole by the achievement of work frequency reduction and improvement of yield, even taking account of welding additional cost.

Point (Summary)

There used to be drawings that indicated boring processing to produce fin of roll. However, the boring method was not economical due to producing more waste portion than to yield fin and demanded much work frequency. We have changed to produce fin to weld stay plate spirally. It is a change of processing method from conventional boring to produce required shape by means of welding other parts. It could achieve cost down by the merit of yield improvement and shortening of lead-time.
